Sometimes standard pressure regulators cannot meet industrial requirements and one application in particular required 3/4” ANSI 150 flanges with ATEX certification for use on propane at 16bar inlet pressure. This pressure is well within the limits stated for ANSI 150 flanges but since it was stipulated that the valve construction had to be cast or with welded on flanges, all the available choices were limited to 15bar maximum inlet pressure and the client had a tight deadline to define a solution quickly.
Screw on flanges would have resolved this without any issue but the client could not and would not accept the risk of gas leaks, insisting on fully welded flanges. The only way to resolve this was through the custom modification of a standard TCR6X regulator by Tecnocryo with fully welded flanges, a pressure rating of 20bar and the new designation DAS00018 providing the 0.2-3bar outlet pressure and -45degC minimum operating temperature that the application demanded.
Four valves were supplied, installed, tested and the client was delighted that Measure Monitor Control had been able to deliver a custom solution that fulfilled their needs exactly.
