Automation of Pneumatic Valve Actuators
Automating the control of process or control valves using pneumatic actuators is very common and only requires the choice and installation of a few different kinds of valves to enable a fully functioning system. It does not matter whether the actuator is quarter turn, half turn or linear for the selection of these components although whether the valve is to have proportional open and close control rather than just open and close positions, will be an important factor. Other requirements such as fast slam shut or ESD (Emergency Shut Down) will dictate the automation method. Note that many different types of control can be combined within the actuator automation circuit to deal with different operating modes, mitigation of failure of the supply pressure and other components to give the valve a failsafe redundancy capability.
