SUTO manufacture flow conditioners to enable their flow meters to give accurate measurements in areas where the usual extended straight pipe runs before the meter cannot be accommodated. Typically, meters require between 25 and 45 times the pipe diameter of upstream pipe for correct operation which for a DN150 line would be up to 6.75m of straight uninterrupted pipe. By employing a flow conditioner as illustrated here, the straight run requirement is reduced to 6 times the pipe diameter or 900mm in this example. This is a massive advantage as it allows the fitting of flow meters in more constricted areas and these devices can be used with any brand of meter.
Flow conditioners can also be used for applications beyond measurement, such as generating stable pipe flow for dispensing and mixing of fluids.
SUTO offers two types of flow conditioner, a threaded form for fitting to the popular S421 inline flow meter and this top hat wafer flange mounted type that is available for standard flange sizes from DN15 to DN250.
